Abstract of Project: My Wife was looking for a way to make a little extra money for our family and decided to start her own Mary Kay business. We both soon found out there was lot more to it than just selling makeup. So, what I will be doing is helping her manage her inventory (by designing an excel spreadsheet) so she can keep track of what she has on hand and be able to know what she is selling the most of. When I do that I’ll have to go through each item that you can order from Mary Kay and list them in the spreadsheet. The second item that I plan on doing is designing a business card for her to be able to pass out. This business card is also going to serve as a frequent buyer’s card so customers can get discounts. This will be a good way to promote her business.

Restate the Project Goal: It was to help my wife and I make it through school without having to go into any debt. It was to learn how to be successful in the business world and how small businesses work.  It helped with me tax preparation and what I need to keep track of business-wise for my taxes.

​1-3 Outcome(s)  First it helped my wife and I earn extra spending money that we used toward tuition. It will also gave me experience of creating a system that keeps track of inventory. I got to learn how to successfully run a business and how not to as well. and hopefully learn from little mistakes now so that when I have my own business one day I won’t make the same mistakes and will be able to run my business in an efficient way.

The photos were going to be me helping my wife sell the Mary Kay product but women didn’t seem to want to buy it from me so I stopped going to the events and therefor do not have any pictures of me selling anything.

Differentiation I will have already managed a business and helped in keeping track of an inventory.  Also it is in line with my degree and not just a fun trip or easy EDGE project. I feel doing this EDGE project will benefit me in the long run and be good for my resume. 

Estimated Costs The business cards will be about $50, then the cost of inventory but that's not relevant to this project. And excel didn’t cost me anything it only just costs time.
